Celebrate Black History Month with Fox Home Entertainment

As Black History Month ends this week, blackfilm.com and Fox Home Entertainment are offering to give out some films to help remember and relive some of the finest acting brought to the big screen.

Drumline

Halftime is party time in this high-stepping, high-energy comedy that "shakes, rattles and rolls the house" (Washington Post) with a pulsating hip-hop soundtrack and electrifying dance moves. Nick Cannon (Men in Black II, TV's "The Nick Cannon Show") stars as Devon Miles, a gifted street drummer who snares the top spot in a Southern university marching band. But when his hotshot attitude gets a lukewarm reception from the school's straight-laced band leader (Orlando Jones), Devon quickly discovers that it takes more than talent to make it on the drumline.

Denzel Washington makes his triumphant directorial debut and Derek Luke shines in his first
big-screen role in “one of the most touching, heartwarming films of the year.”(Jeffrey Lyons, WNBC-TV).Inspired by the true life experiences of its title character, Antwone Fisher tells the dramatic story of a troubled sailor (Luke) who is ordered to see a naval psychiatrist (Washington) about his volatile temper.Little does he know that his first step into the doctor’s office will lead him on a remarkable emotional journey to confront his painful past – and connect with the family he never knew.

(Dorothy Dandridge), a beautiful and seductive factory worker. As in the classic opera, Carmen makes Joe forget about his former true love, Cindy Lou (Olga James). The lovers are soon forced to flee the city when Joe kills his sergeant during a fight.

But although Roop is smitten with the lovely single mother, his own life trials make him slow to respond to her invitation to a lifetime of love. The touching story of Claudine will inspire smiles and tears in viewers of all ages.

Brown Sugar

Dre (Taye Diggs), a hip hop A&R executive at a New York record label and Sidney (Sanaa Lathan), a magazine editor have known each other since they were kids. They can attribute their friendship and the launch of their careers to the moment in their childhood when they discovered hip-hop on a
New York street corner. Now 15 years later, they are brought back together. As they lay down the tracks toward their futures, hip-hop isn't the only thing that keeps them coming back to that moment on the corner.

Waiting to Exhale

Over the span of a single year, Savannah (Whitney Houston), Bernadine (Angela Bassett),
Robin (Lela Rochon) and Gloria (Loretta Devine) weather triumph and revenge, sons and mothers,
ex-husbands and new lovers, under a powerful umbrella of camaraderie. Their lovelorn quests are filled with passion, disappointment, revelation and just enough sassy friendship to see them through.
