Terrence Howard and Don Cheadle to work together again on "Talk
To Me".
October 30, 2005
While recently promoting his latest film, "Get Rich or Die Tryin'",
Terrence Howard mentioned to blackfilm.com that he will be working with
Don Cheadle again on "Talk To Me". The film will be
directed by Kasi Lemmons (Eve's Bayou, The Caveman's Valentine) and
be distributed by Focus Features. "Talk To Me About" is the
story of broadcast personality and community activist Ralph "Petey"
Greene, a 1960s/70s disc jockey in Washington. Cheadle will play the
part of Petey Greene. Taraji P. Henson is also slated to be in the film.
Cheadle and Howard had previously worked together on the critcally acclaimed
film, "Crash".
The following prologue appears in the book, "Laugh If You Like, Ain't a Damn Thing Funny, the Life Story of Ralph 'Petey' Greene" by Lurma Rackley:
Ralph “Petey” Greene was a native Washingtonian who, though
he lived in Foggy Bottom, considered Georgetown his home. A comic genius,
he spent years “clowning around” and spiraling to life's
lowest depths. From there he conned, “speechified,” and
rhymed his way to heights even he hardly imagine, using lessons he learned
from his unconventional grandmother, “A'nt Pig.” Host of
the national television show “Petey Greene´s Washington,“
Greene would end the show with his signature rhyme, “I'll tell
it to the hot, I'll tell it to the cold, I'll tell it to the young and
I'll tell it to the old.”
