Thoms added to Rosalyn Coleman Williams's directorial debut film, JIMMIE

Tracie Thoms, star of Rent and recently added to the cast of the CBS drama "COLD CASE," will star in the romantic comedy "JIMMIE." written by  Craig T. Williams and Lorisa Bates and making her feature film directorial debut, Broadway and film actress Rosalyn Coleman Williams. Production is slated to begin May 2006. The romantic comedy will also star Vanessa Williams of Showtime's well loved series "Soul Food."


Tracie Thoms plays the title character "JIMMIE". After a devastating breakup, Jimmie swears off men and throws herself into her career, eight years later, positioned to get the job of her dreams, the man who broke her heart reappears in her life as her new boss and he wants her back


The film also features:

Tracie Thoms - She is currently starring in the feature film Rent as Joanne Jefferson and will star in Descent and The Devil Wears Prada in 2006. Thom has recently been cast as regular on the Cold Case series as Kat Miller. Her other television credits include: Mahandra on Wonderland, Sasha in the UPN series "As If," CCH Pounder's daughter Bonnie in a recurring role in FX's "The Shield," Terry in "The Chevy Chase Pilot" for NBC; and Andrea in Comedy Central's very first film for television, "Porn 'N Chicken."

Vanessa Williams - Vanessa is the recipient of the 2003 NAACP Image Award for Best Actress in a Dramatic Series for her role as 'Maxine' in Showtime's hit series SOUL FOOD. Not only has she worked as an actress, but also Vanessa has branched out into writing and producing. For Showtime television, she produced, co-wrote and directed the short film Dense, which is currently playing in film festivals around the country.  Her other television credits include a regular role on the critically acclaimed Steven Bochco series Murder One and a recurring role on the award- winning series Chicago Hope, both of which earned her NAACP Image Award nominations. She had starring roles in the BET original movies Incognito and Playing With Fire, and guest-starring roles in Showtime's Total Recall 2070, as well as The Pretender, NYPD Blue, The Steve Harvey Show, Malcolm and Eddie, Livin' Single and Between Brothers. Vanessa also voiced a series regular role on the syndicated animation
series Heavy Gear. 

Kenny Leon - Kenny is a highly acclaimed director, producer and actor and whose experience covers the spectrum of television, stage and film. Having directed Broadway's A Raisin in the Sun and Gem of the Ocean, Kenny is presently co-Founder and Artistic Director of Atlanta- and Washington, DC-based True Colors Theatre Company, whose mission is to produce a diverse group of plays from various times, cultures, and perspectives, while preserving the African American classics. Prior to founding True Colors, Kenny served as artistic director of the Atlanta- based Alliance Theatre Company for over a decade
 

 

Timothy "Javon" Johnson - Some of his film credits include Calvin Palmer, SR in Barbershop 2, Louis Price in The Temptations for NBC, Gangster in Dogma for Tristar Pictures and Sportin' Life in Porgy: A Gullah Version for SC Educational Television.  Javon is also a prolific playwright, handpicked by the late great August Wilson to be his protege, Javon has several plays touring the country.

Rosalyn Coleman Williams – director of the award winning short film ALLERGIC TO NUTS, will make her feature film directorial debut at the helm of the romantic comedy “JIMMIE.” As an actress Roz appeared on Broadway in Seven Guitars, The Piano Lesson, Mule Bone and The Bitter Tears of Petra Von Kant . Her feature film credits include: VANILLA SKY, BROWN SUGAR, EVERYONE’S DEPRESSED, MUSIC OF THE HEART, MIXING NIA, COLD FEET, HOOK’D UP, THE OPPORTUNIST and OUR SONG. Television appearances include: OZ, D.C. on The WB, NYPD BLUE, NY UNDERCOVER, and LAW AND ORDER SVU.
