Underwood to direct Ving Rhames in "The Bridge to Nowhere".

Blair Underwood will make his feature directorial debut on and Ving Rhames has signed on to star in indie drama "The Bridge to Nowhere," with lensing set to begin in Pittsburgh next month.

Smithfield Street Prods. produces. Script by Chris Gutierrez centers on the rise and fall of four blue-collar men who team with a destitute prostitute to create a high-priced escort service.

Smithfield Street Prods. is headed by Mike Wittlin and Brian Hartman.

Underwood's producing partner Tommy Morgan Jr. and Blondel Aidoo are producing; Kristoff St. John is co-producing, and Mike Dolan, Ben Barton and Gary Mehlman exec produce.

Underwood has previously directed five musicvideos and short "The Second Coming." He's producing and starring in supernatural thriller "My Soul to Keep" for Fox Searchlight and producing the TLC series "Easy Money" with Morgan for their Intrepid Inc. banner.

Underwood's currently in CBS' "The New Adventures of Old Christine" and is slated to star in the upcoming HBO series "In Treatment."
