In a festive spirit, New Line has purchased "Party Up," tyro writer Corey Harrell's urban comedy spec, and set it up with Benderspink's Chris Bender, Mason Novick and Michael Steinberg.
Elijah Kelley will star in what will be his third teaming with New Line following "Hairspray" and "Take the Lead." Story centers on kids who set out to throw the biggest high school party ever, but their resourcefulness is tested when the party's location falls apart at the last minute.

New Line tapped into a similar teen comedy vein in the early 1990s with a trio of "House Party" pics. In the wake of finishing "Hairspray," New Line's set up several other projects with cast members Queen Latifah and Zac Efron and director Adam Shankman.

JC Spink will exec produce "Party Up." Benderspink reps Harrell and Kelley and has "Torrente" and "Power & Glory" at New Line and "Fiasco Heights" at Universal.
