Viola Davis is set to play Mrs. Muller in Miramax's screen adaptation of "Doubt," John Patrick Shanley's Tony-winning play.

Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams star in the film that was written and is being directed by Shanley.

Scott Rudin is producing along with Mark Roybal, and Celia Costas is executive producing.

Davis will play the mother of a young male student who has piqued what Sister Aloysius, the Mother Superior of the school (Streep), sees as the improper interest of Father Flynn (Hoffman).

Adams is in negotiations to play Sister James, the young nun who has been an indirect witness to the dealings between Flynn and Muller's son. Production began last week in New York.
