MIRACLE AT ST. ANNA update

Kerry Washington replaces Naomi Campbell in Spike Lee's war film.

While speaking to Spike Lee on the DVD release of his first film, 'She's Gotta Have It', Lee mentioned to blackfilm.com that due to scheduling conflicts, Naomi Campbell has pulled out of his latest film, 'Miracle at St. Anna' and will be replaced by Kerry Washington.

Washington had previously been directed Lee back in 2004 when she co-starred with Anthony Mackie in 'She Hate Me'.

The film follows four African-American Buffalo soldiers of the 92nd Infantry Division who get trapped in a a small tuscan village on the Gothic Line during the Italian Campaign of World War II. The film deals with the massacre of Sant'Anna di Stazzema perpetrated by the Nazis in retaliation to Italian partisan activity.

Also added to the cast is Michael K. Williams (Gone Baby Gone). Williams is currently playing gangster Omar in HBO's The Wire.
