Based on a True Story, Inspirational Sports Film Set in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina Begins Production on Location in New Orleans

NEW YORK, NY (April 21, 2008) -Dimension Films announced today the cast of "Patriots," the inspirational sports drama that began production on location in New Orleans this week. Joining the previously announced Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker ("The Great Debaters," "The Last King of Scotland") are Taraji P. Henson, Isaiah Washington, Robbie Jones, Jackie Long , Eric Hill, Bow Wow, Lil' Wayne, Irma Hall, Jared Einsohn , J.B. Smoove and Chyna McClain.
The film is directed by Tim Story ("Fantastic Four") from a script by Robert Eisele ("The Great Debaters") and Greg Howard ("Remember the Titans"). Producers are Raymond Brothers and Scott Glassgold of IAM Entertainment and Stephanie Allain ("Hustle & Flow," "Black Snake Moan") and Michael Beugg ("Little Miss Sunshine," "Thank You For Smoking").

"Patriots," based on a true story, is an inspirational sports film set in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, where Al Collins, a high school basketball coach in Marrero, Louisiana, assembles a team of players who had previously attended five different schools and leads them on the path to the state championships. Production started last week on location in New Orleans. Today's announcement reunites Forest Whitaker and Robert Eisele -- their most recent collaboration was "The Great Debaters," for Dimension's sister company TWC, which in 2007 was nominated for Golden Globe's Best
Picture and won four NAACP Image Awards including Outstanding Motion Picture.

Bob Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company and Dimension Films said: "'Patriots reflects the type of engaging and entertaining genre movies that we strive to make and we are thrilled to be able to film this story in New Orleans. The script has attracted a young, energetic and dynamic cast and we look forward to working with them and Tim Story as they create an inspirational movie that will attract audiences across the country this fall."
