Murphy attached to play Richard Pryor in Condon film

After many talks and delays about doing a biopic on Richard Pryor, there seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel. According to Entertainment Weekly, Eddie Murphy is attached to play the legendary comedian in a new script written by director Bill Condon.

The film is called 'Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?' and Fox Searchlight is rumored to be the studio putting it in theaters.

Condon, who most recently wrote and directed 'Dreamgirls,' had the Pryor biopic set up at The Weinstein Company but was able to pull it out when the indie outfit put it into turnaround. He initially was hoping to secure $30 million to produce the film, but that figure, sources say, has dropped to $25 million. Murphy, who landed an Oscar nomination for his role in 'Dreamgirls,' has done Pryor impersonations as part of his act as far back as the 1987 concert movie 'Raw.'

Mike Epps and Eddie Griffin were also looking to do biopics on Pryor, but so far there's no development on their ends.
