Q & A With Carl Brashear: The Man of Honor CARL BRASHEAR has the kind of story that lends itself to legend. His real-life achievements are the stuff that screenwriters would sell their soul to create and actors would fight to portray. Listen up - this man's got a story to tell. Features/Interviews 05/01/2001
Black Film Plus White Critics Equals Like you, I long for the day when this doesn't have to be explained. The day when films with black casts are assumed to be universal in theme and accessible in content. Features/Articles 05/01/2000
Never Too Big As far as STV's go Butter was pretty good. I was pleasantly surprised to find a decent plot, a few unexpected twists and actors who portrayed intriguing characters. The cameos were the best part of the movie though. Telling would spoil the surprise, but if you're an African-American film fan you'll see a lot of familiar faces. Reviews/Indie 08/01/1999
Blind Faith This film examines issues of race, justice, sexism and morality in a non-preaching, non-judgmental manner. If you're looking for a well-written, thought-provoking story, combined with dynamite acting, Blind Faith is definitely the film to see! Reviews/DVD 08/01/1999
Enemy of the State Will Smith is taking on the world again as a trade lawyer mistakenly involved in government intrigue. A great blockbuster at the theater and a great rental opportunity. Reviews/DVD 07/01/1999
Life But Life isn't that kind of movie. It's not fully a comedy, which is fitting enough considering the subject matter, but neither is it a serious movie. Reviews/Film 07/01/1999
The Farm The Farm's greatest success is in establishing a personal connection between the viewer and the inmates. As a viewer, you get a true sense of the futility of the quest to be released, of the devastating loss of time, and, in some cases, the blatant racial bias. Reviews/Indie 07/01/1999
