Nate Parker, Clarke Peters Among Spike Lee’s ‘Red Hook Summer’ cast

While it’s been a few months since Blackfilm.com broke the news that Spike Lee is directing a new film called ‘Red Hook Summer,’ Mr. Lee himself announced today through Twitter that the film will be out in 2012.

“Summer 2012… The new @SpikeLee Joint – RED HOOK SUMMER”


Although details on the plot is still limited,  sources had initially told the site that the story centers on a adult from Atlanta who comes and spends the summer in Red Hook section of Brooklyn, NY.

Blackfilm.com has now learned that besides Lee, who will be reprising his role as Mookie, the character he played over twenty years ago in his most famous film, 1989′s ‘ Do the Right Thing.’ some cast members in the film include Clarke Peters, Nate Parker, Turron Kofi Alleyne, Samantha Ivers, Limary Agosto, Heather Simms, and Kalon Jackson.

Parker will next be seen in the Tuskagee Airmen film, ‘Red Tails,’ opposite Terrence Howard, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Ne-Yo.

Peters, known for his role as Detective Lester Freamon on the HBO drama ‘The Wire,’ currently plays the role of Albert Lambreaux on HBO’s other acclaimed series ‘Treme.’

Lee is getting ready to start shooting the remake to of Park Chan-wook’s 2003 film ‘Oldboy,’ with Josh Brolin.
