Angela Bassett has signed up to join Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart in Antoine Fuqua‘s actioner Olympus Has Fallen.

In the film, Butler stars as an unlikely Secret Service agent trying to stop North Korean terrorists who have taken over the White House with plans to detonate a nuclear bomb.

Eckhart will play the U.S. President, while Bassett will play the head of the Secret Service.

Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt wrote the script. Mark Gill, Alan Siegel and Butler are producing the Millennium Films project. Avi Lerner and Trevor Short are executive producing.

Bassett recently played the CIA Boss to Chris Pine and Tom Hardy‘s characters in ‘This Means War.’

‘Olympus Has Fallen’ begins shooting early next month.
