Anthony Mackie talks Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Coming out this week is ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,’ which is based on the novel by Seth Grahame-Smith (who also wrote the adaptation) and the film is directed by Timur Bekmambetov.

Newcomer Benjamin Walker stars as the president. When President Lincoln’s mother is killed by a supernatural creature, his passion is fueled to crush vampires and their slave-owning helpers. Co-starring in the film are Dominic Cooper, Anthony Mackie, Rufus Sewell, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jimmi Simpson, Marton Csokas, and Erin Wasson.

Mackie plays real-life figure William H. Johnson, who actually a free African American, and the personal valet of Abraham Lincoln.

Known for his reecnt roles in Man on a Ledge, Real Steel, The Adjustment Bureau, Night Catches Us, and The Hurt Locker, this film gave Mackie more to do with CGI than he did in Real Steel. With upcoming roles in Gangster Squad, Pain and Gain, and Runner, Runner, the New Orleans native certainly has a lot on his plate between doing studio and independent films.

In speaking with, Mackie spoke about his role in the film, working with Benjamin Walker, and his upcoming film.
