Summit Entertainment has released the trailer for The Impossible, starring Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor.

Directed by Juan Antonio Bayona and co-starring Tom Holland, Samuel Joslin and Oaklee Pendergast, the true story details the unforgettable account of a family caught in the mayhem of one of the worst natural catastrophes of our time. True-life terror is tempered by the unexpected displays of compassion and simple kindness this family encounters during the darkest hours of their lives.

The Impossible hits theaters in a limited release on December 21st.

In 2006, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Sophie Okonedo starred in HBO’s Tsunami – The Aftermath. The performances by both actors in Tsunami: The Aftermath received a 2007 Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor and Best Actress in a mini-series or film made for TV.

That film also starred stars Tim Roth, Toni Collette, Samrit Machielsen, and Savannah Loney.
