“Sparkle” star Tika Sumpter and comedians Bryan Callen (“The Hangover”) and Jay Pharoah (“Saturday Night Live”) have joined the cast of Universal’s action-comedy “Ride Along.”

Tim Story is directing the laffer, which stars Kevin Hart as a school teacher who must survive a nightmarish “ride along” with his fiancee’s cop brother (Ice Cube) who disapproves of the marriage.

Sumpter will play Hart’s fiancee, while Callen will play a wily, undercover cop alongside John Leguizamo, who has closed a deal to co-star in the pic. Pharoah will play a street-smart informant.

Ice Cube and Matt Alvarez are producing for CubeVision along with Will Packer from Rainforest Films and Larry Brezner.

Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay are currently working on a rewrite of the script, with earlier drafts penned by Greg Coolidge, Roger Kumble, Jason Mantzoukas and the writing team of Bob Fisher and Steve Faber.

Sumpter and Callen respectively worked with Hart and Packer on “Think Like a Man” and Screen Gems’ remake of “About Last Night.” Duo also recently wrapped the indie comedy “My Man Is a Loser.”

Sumpter is represented by CESD and Brookside Artist Management, while Callen is repped by Innovative Artists and managers Ray Moheet and Melissa Verdugo of LEG.

Pharoah, who plays President Barack Obama on “Saturday Night Live,” recently wrapped CBS Films’ comedy “Get a Job” and previously appeared in Fox Searchlight’s “Lola Versus.” He’s repped by ICM Partners and Hansen, Jacobson.
