“Bridesmaids” star Wendi McLendon-Covey has landed the first of four female leads in Tyler Perry‘s next movie “Single Mom’s Club,” which will be distributed by Lionsgate.

In addition to writing, directing and producing, Perry is expected to star in the pic, which follows a group of single mothers from different walks of life who are brought together by an incident at their children’s school. They bond and create a support group that helps them find comedy in the obstacles of life, as well as their inner strength to overcome their personal challenges.

McLendon-Covey is set to play a snobbish book publisher wrestling with the decision to move up the corporate ladder or devote more time to raising her only daughter.

William Levy is also attached in the film and he will play a character named Manny.

Perry will produce along with Ozzie Areu and Matt Moore. Production will start at the end of the month in Atlanta, where Perry’s production company is based.

McLendon-Covey, who starred on Comedy Central’s hit series “Reno 911!” and subsequent feature “Reno 911!: Miami,” is becoming a Lionsgate favorite, co-starring in its pregnancy comedy “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” as well as its upcoming low-budget laffer “Gay Dude.” In addition to a recurring role as an annoying neighbor on CBS’ “Rules of Engagement,” thesp has a quartet of indie pics in the can, including “Cuban Fury,” “Claire’s Cambodia,” “Sleeping Around” and “A White Trash Christmas.”
