First Look At Yaya DaCosta Alafia As Whitney Houston For Lifetime Biopic

YaYa DaCosta Alafia EW Whitney picEntertainment Weekly has posted the first photo of Yaya DaCosta Alafia as Whitney Houston in Angela Bassett‘s directorial debut, the Lifetime Original Movie, I Will Always Love You: The Whitney Houston Story.

Set for 2015, the film will center on the relationship between Houston and her ex-husband Bobby Brown, from the time they met at the height of their celebrity, their dating period and their up-and-down marriage. Throughout their marriage, their were several highs and lows as the couple dealt with fame and fortune.

In the photo, Alafia is channeling  Houston’s 1987 album cover of “Whitney.”

Whitney AlbumArlen Escarpeta will play her ex-husband Bobby Brown, with Yolonda Ross cast in the role of Whitney‘s longtime friend Robyn Crawford. Recently added to the cast are Suzzanne Douglas and former soap star Cornelius Smith Jr. (All My Children) in the roles of Whitney’s mother, soul and Gospel singer Cissy Houston and brother Michael, respectively.

‘Whitney Houston’ will be produced by the Sanitsky Company. Larry Sanitsky, who worked with Bassett on the Lifetime film ‘Betty and Coretta,’ will serve as the executive producer. Shem Bitterman, who wrote ‘Coretta’ is onboard as the screenwriter.
