Jeffrey Wright, Jennifer Hudson, Greg Kinnear, and Alison Wright have been added to cast of HBO’s Confirmation, joining Wendell Pierce, who is set to play Judge Clarence Thomas opposite Kerry Washington‘s Anita Hill.

Titled “Confirmation,” the film will detail the explosive 1991 Clarence Thomas-Hill Supreme Court nomination hearings, which brought the country to a standstill and forever changed the way people think about sexual harassment, victims’ rights and modern-day race relations.

According to THR, Hudson will play Angela Wright, who worked with Thomas at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and issued a key statement about Thomas’ comments about women. Kinnear is set as then-Sen. Joe Biden; Jeffrey Wright will portray Charles Ogletree, who served as legal counsel to Hill during the hearings; Alison Wright (The Americans) is Ginni Thomas, an attorney and Clarence’s wife.

Academy Award nominated writer Susannah Grant (Erin Brockovich) will pen the script and executive produce the drama, which is being produced by Groundswell Productions in association with ABC Signature Studios. Groundswell CEO Michael London (ABC’s upcoming soap Astronaut Wives Club) and production president Janice Williams will executive produce alongside Grant and star Washington.

Dope’s Rick Famuyiwa will direct the TV movie, which will begin production in early summer.
