Cube Vision is producing through MGM, with Bob Teitel and George Tillman Jr of State Street Pictures on as lead producers.

Deadline has reported that Anderson will reprise his role as JD, the troubled ATM thief whose crimes nearly caused the closure of the titular shop in the original film. JD was arrested at the end of Barbershop, and subsequently Anderson didn’t appear in Barbershop 2. The site also has Cole playing Dante, a fixture at the shop who shares his pithy comments on any subject under the sun, even though his cultural references are a few years out of date.

Variety has stated that Hall will play Angie, the woman in charge of the beauty shop portion of the barbershop. Lee has directed Hall in both of his Best Man films. Other outlets have reported that Rainey Jr. will be playing the role of Cube’s son, with Lewis reprising her role as his wife, Jennifer Palmer.

MGM produced the 2002 original, which cost $12 million and grossed $75 million domestic while the 2004 sequel, Barbershop 2: Back in Business, cost $30 million and grossed $65 million. Tim Story directed the first film, while Kevin Sullivan helmed the second.
