Magic Mike XXL Premiere Donald Glover

Deadline is reporting that “Community” alum Donald Glover has been added to the cast of “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”

His role has yet to be given or described.

With Jon Watts directing Sony’s reboot of the “Spider-Man” franchise, Glover joins Tom Holland, who plays the titular superhero, Marisa Tomei, who will portray Aunt May, Michael Keaton as The Vulture, by Zendaya, Michael Barbieri, Kenneth Choi and Tony Revolori.

Robert Downey Jr. is set to reprise his role as Tony Stark (Iron Man). Both Holland and Tomei appeared with Downey Jr. in “Captain America: Civil War.”

Kevin Feige is producing with Amy Pascal. Production is expected to star this summer with the film hitting theaters on July 7, 2017.

Interesting enough, Glover voiced the character of Miles Morales – the black Spider-Man during the 2014 season of Disney XD‘s animated series “Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors,” which featured both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, who meet in a parallel world, where they both exist.

At one point, fans created a “Donald Glover for Spider-Man” Facebook fanpage before Holland got the role.

Glover most recently appeared in the Oscar-nominated film “The Martian” opposite Matt Damon, Chiwetel Ejoifor and Jessica Chastain. He can be seen next in his FX comedy “Atlanta,” which premieres later this summer. His other past credits include “Lazarus” and “Magic Mike XXL.” He’s also a hip hop artist who records under the name Childish Gambino and contributed a song to the soundtrack of Ryan Coogler’s Rocky spinoff film, “Creed.”
