Dianne Houston will be directing the biopic “Michael Jackson: Searching for Neverland” for Lifetime television.

Based on the book “Remember the Time: Protecting Michael Jackson in His Final Days,” the script was written by Elizabeth Hunter (“Beauty Shop”) and will star Michael Jackson tribute artist Navi and Chad L. Coleman (The Wire, The Walking Dead) as Jackson’s bodyguard.

A veteran TV director, Houston recently wrote the Lifetime film Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel’le. She also directed the 1994 short film Tuesday Morning Ride, which starred Ruby Dee and Bill Cobbs. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film in 1995, making Houston the first and only African-American woman to be nominated for an Oscar for directing work.

Produced by Silver Screen, the ‘Searching for Neverland’ will begin shooting in February.
