Yesterday afternoon, Flavorpill Media hosted a brunch event at Brooklyn’s House of Yes to help promote the upcoming Season 2 of HBO’s critically acclaimed series series, Insecure, which returns for eight episodes starting SUNDAY, JULY 23 (10:30-11:00 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO.

There was a huge line around the block as folks waited patiently to enter and watch an advanced screening of the 1st episode. Once inside, they were treated to tasty food, themed cocktails, DJ sets from Kitty Cash, nail art by Paintbox and temporary tattoos by Stray Tats.

Starring Golden Globe nominee Issa Rae as Issa, Yvonne Orji as Molly, Jay Ellis as Lawrence and Lisa Joyce as Frieda, the rest of the cast includes Amanda Seales and Natasha Rothwell, who were promoted to regular status. The latter two appeared in four episodes last season.

The series that follows best friends Issa (Rae) and Molly (Yvonne Orji) as they navigate the tricky professional and personal terrain of Los Angeles, while facing the challenges of being two black women who defy all stereotypes. Issa and Molly stumble their way towards pulling their lives together, while trying their hardest to never settle for less.

In the aftermath of her breakup with Lawrence, Issa embraces the chance to explore the single-girl life, just as a challenging new work assignment puts her burgeoning friendship with well-meaning colleague Frieda to the test. Meanwhile, Molly’s commitment to self-improvement forces her to confront her worth and future at the law firm, while facing the complex realities of relationships. And Lawrence makes a fresh start at both dating and his new job, but soon discovers that starting over may not be as easy as he thought.

The series, written, created, and executive produced by Issa Rae, is also executive produced by show runner Prentice Penny, and director Melina Matsoukas, who directed three episodes of “Insecure,” as well as Michael Rotenberg, Dave Becky and Jonathan Berry.

“Insecure: The Complete First Season” is currently available on Blu-ray and DVD featuring all eight Season 1 episodes and bonus content, including an exclusive and extended look at the “Insecure” characters’ favorite reality show, “Conjugal Visits.” Rae was a 2016 Golden Globe nominee (Best Actress in a Comedy Series).
