Marvel has just announced that J.R. Ramirez (Power) has joined the cast of Marvel’s Jessica Jones Season 2 as a recurring guest star.

A Netflix original series, Marvel’s Jessica Jones is a suspenseful, edgy look into the life of Jessica Jones, one of the most popular new Marvel characters of the last decade, as she faces demons from within and without. After a tragic ending to her short-lived Super Hero stint, Jessica Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases in New York City.

Ramirez is set to play Oscar, a devoted single father who moves into Jessica’s building as the new superintendent. While his young son becomes enamored with Jessica and her powers, Oscar keeps his distance, worrying about the trouble that follows people like her.

“J.R. is an incredible addition to our cast, bringing complex and subtle emotion and humor,” said Marvel’s Jessica Jones series Creator and Executive Producer, Melissa Rosenberg. “He exudes warmth, edge and intelligence, and blends perfectly with our tone.”

Krysten Ritter stars as the title hero in the series and was joined in season one by Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Rachael Taylor (Trish Walker), Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty, and Wil Traval. Ritter can next be seen as the character in the upcoming Marvel’s The Defenders, which debuts August 18 on Netflix. Golden Globe winner and two-time Academy Award-nominated actress Janet McTeer (Tumbleweeds, Albert Nobbs, Me Before You) joined the series earlier this year in a mystery role that will have a huge impact on the life of Jessica Jones. Additionally, Leah Gibson has joined the series as Ingrid, a street-wise woman trained as a nurse.

Ramirez was last seen playing Julio on Season 4 of Starz’s hit series Power. His character was killed off in episode 6. Ramirez also played the role of the vigilante Wildcat on The CW’s Arrow.
