Debuting on VOD through Freestyle Digital Media on August 29, 2017 is the urban crime drama Dope Fiend, written and directed by Ron Eliot and starring Andra Fuller, Malik Yoba, Hisham Tawfiq, Tobias Truvillion & Marquise Jackson.

In a methodical scheme for gentrification, Profit (Fuller), a notorious but respected drug dealer, finds his family in the middle of a landlord’s intricate plot to remove tenants in the housing projects by fueling a drug war. As an illiterate child of deceased dope fiend parents, Profit is driven by the love for his grandmother, who raised him, and he’ll do whatever it takes to provide a better life for her and his family.

Profit’s savvy and introspective philosophy is a stark contrast to the ruthless, violent ways of his rival, Santiago, who ignites a perpetual war when he savagely murders his own nephew, Oscar. The devastated and pregnant Isis, Oscar’s alluring Rastafarian fiancee, seeks revenge, culminating in a real-life crime drama of epic proportions.

Dope Fiend takes a peek into Brooklyn’s housing projects, demonstrating the struggles of families who have tried to survive for generations, while battling with issues of education, unemployment, drug abuse, gentrification and racism.

Freestyle Digital Media is the digital film distribution division of Byron Allen’s Entertainment Studios.
