Deadline is reporting that Universal Pictures has hired “Moonlight” director Barry Jenkins to direct “Black Panther” leading man Chadwick Boseman in “Expatriate,” a thriller centered around a plane hijacking in the 1970s.

Boseman and Logan Coles are co-writing the script. Marc Platt and Adam Siegel will produce through their Universal-based Marc Platt Productions banner alongside Rain Man and Breaking Bad’s Mark Johnson and his Gran Via Productions. Mark Ceryak will also produce, and Coles will serve as executive producer. Universal director of development Chloe Yellin is overseeing with Ryan Christians from Marc Platt Productions.

Beale’s next film will be “If Beale Street Could Talk” an adaptation of James Baldwin’s 1974 novel. Annapurna Pictures will release that film sometime in 2018. Jenkins’ last film Moonlight won the 2017 Oscar for Best Pictures and Best Adapted Screenplay.
