Blackfilm.com has come to learn more details regarding multi-talented actress and Grammy nominated singer Antonique Smith’s character in season two of Netflix’s hit series “Luke Cage.”

After clearing his name, Luke Cage has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem with a reputation as bulletproof as his skin. But being so visible has only increased his need to protect the community and find the limits of who he can and can’t save. With the rise of a formidable new foe, Luke is forced to confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain.

Marvel’s Luke Cage will return with all-new episodes on June 22.

Antonique Smith will be playing the role of Detective Nandi Tyler, a new character to the Marvel family. Nandi and Misty Night’s relationship runs deep and began when they were in high school. Time has done little to lessen their animosity towards each other and the tensions only intensify when Nandi takes over Misty’s position after her hand is cut off (during the Defenders series). Fans will be perplexed and on the edge of their seats as they do their best to analyze where Nandi’s intentions lay, are the good, are they evil and how will her character evolve within the Marvel family?

Luke Cage is executive produced by Cheo Hodari Coker (Ray Donovan, Southland) and Aïda Croal (The Returned, True Blood) as co-executive producer, along with Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Punisher, Marvel’s Inhumans), and Jim Chory (Marvel’s Punisher, Marvel’s Inhumans).

Mike Colter returns as the titular Luke Cage, with Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, Theo Rossi as Shades and Finn Jones as Danny Rand aka Iron Fist.

Newcomers to the series so far include Mustafa Shakir (The Deuce, The Night Of) as John McIver, a natural leader, brimming with charisma, whose mission is focused on Harlem and vengeance; and Gabrielle Dennis (Insecure, Rosewood) as Tilda Johnson, a brilliant, holistic doctor with a complicated history in Harlem where, as much as she tries to stay far from trouble, it seems to always find her. Annabella Sciorra (The Sopranos) will play Rosalie Carbone, described as a dangerous downtown criminal underworld power player with an eye, and an agenda, toward Harlem.

Smith is best known for her role in Fox Searchlight’s film Notorious portraying ‘Faith Evans’ in the biopic based on the life of legendary rapper Notorious B.I.G. Her other film credits include a lead role in Victoria Mahoney’sYelling To The Sky,” a strong supporting role in the motion picture John Singleton’s “Abduction” and a lead role in the Netflix film “Deuces.” Antonique’s TV credits include starring guest and recurring roles on numerous hit TV shows including “Law & Order”, HBO’s “Bored To Death”, A&E’s “100 Centre Street” and the Fox limited drama series “Shots Fired,” and most recently “Chicago P.D.”

As a singer, Smith played the lead role of ‘Mimi Marquez’ in the musical Rent, and earned her a 2015 Grammy nomination for “Best Traditional R&B Performance” for her debut single, “Hold Up Wait a Minute (Woo Woo).” Having co-written her Grammy nominated single, she has also written songs for several television shows including Shots Fired, where she co-wrote the show’s theme song along with several other original songs that were featured in the show and composed a piece of the score with great Terrance Blanchard.
