Oscar winner Hilary Swank (Million Dollar Baby, Boys Don’t Cry) will star in the upcoming noir thriller Fatale, directed by Deon Taylor (Meet the Blacks, Traffik).

Fatale centers on a married man who is tricked into a murder scheme by a seductive female police detective played by Swank.

Taylor is directing as well as producing alongside his Hidden Empire Film Group partners Roxanne Avent and Robert F. Smith. The screenplay was written by David Loughery (Lakeview Terrace, Obsessed). Dante Spinotti will reteam with Taylor as the director of photography for the feature.

“I can’t tell you how excited we are to have Hilary jump into this role,” Taylor said. “Getting tough, smart, beautiful, and perplexing al in one performance is daunting — until you get Hillary Swank, then you breathe easier and things get really exciting. We’re really looking forward to making this movie and letting Hillary do what she does best — command the screen.”

Production on Fatale will begin next month in Los Angeles. Avent will oversee the project for Hidden Empire Film, who is fully financing the film.

Swank recently starred in the FX television drama series Trust opposite Donald Sutherland and just wrapped production on the sci-fi thriller I Am Mother. She can next be seen in the drama What They Had, starring alongside Michael Shannon, Blythe Danner, and Josh Lucas and debuting in October

Taylor has a number of projects in the works, including the thriller The Intruder starring Michael Ealy, Dennis Quaid, and Meagan Good, The House Next Door, and Akuma. The director’s other film credits include Meet the Blacks and the intense sex trafficking thriller Traffik, which starred Paula Patton.
