Currently in theaters from Sony Pictures is Jason Reitman’s The Front Runner, which chronicles the rise and fall of American Senator Gary Hart, a Democratic presidential candidate in 1988.

Oscar nominee Hugh Jackman stars as the charismatic politician Gary Hart, who captured the imagination of young voters and was considered the overwhelming front runner for the 1988 Democratic presidential nomination when his campaign was sidelined by the story of an extramarital relationship with Donna Rice. As tabloid journalism and political journalism merged for the first time, Senator Hart was forced to drop out of the race – events that left a profound and lasting impact on American politics and the world stage.

Based on Matt Bai’s 2014 novel “All the Truth Is Out,” the film also stars Vera Farmiga, J.K. Simmons, Kaitlyn Dever, Sara Paxton, Mamoudou Athie, Molly Ephraim, Josh Brener, and Mike Judge.

Blackfilm.com recently sat down with the cast (Hugh Jackman, J.K. Simmons, Sara Paxton, and director Jason Reitman) as they discussed making the film, which hits theaters on November 6th.
