Blackfilm.com has exclusively learned that Red Tails star Nate Parker has been added to the cast of the crime drama Every Secret Thing, joining Dakota Fanning, Danielle Macdonald, Diane Lane, and Elizabeth Banks.
The story follows two 11-year-old girls who are convicted of murdering a baby and are incarcerated until they turn 18 (Fanning, Macdonald). Upon their release, children start to go missing; as the police turn their attention to the duo, the mystery surrounding the original murder comes back to light.
Parker will play a police office partnered with Banks, who finds herself emotionally involved in the case. Diane Lane will play the mother of one of the girls, portraying a woman who has long known that her daughter is a gifted liar.
Amy Berg will be making her directorial feature film debut. She previously helmed the critically acclaimed documentaries “West of Memphis” and “Deliver Us From Evil.”
Anthony Bregman of Likely Story and Frances McDormand are producing, with financing from Merced Media Partners, Palmstar Media Capital and Hyde Park Entertainment. The script comes from Nicole Holofcener (“Please Give, “Lovely & Amazing”), adapted from Laura Lippman‘s 2003 novel which McDormand optioned in 2010.
Production has already started in New York.
Parker, who will next be seen in the Sundance film Ain’t Them Bodies Saints and Non-Stop with Liam Neesom, was recently at SXSW promoting Jeymes Samuel‘s short film, the black western, They Die By Dawn.
