Forest Whitaker Added To Star Wars Family, Joins ‘Star Wars: Rogue One’Posted by Wilson Morales

According to Variety, Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker is in talks to join the cast of Lucasfilm’s “Star Wars” spinoff pic “Rogue One.”
With Gareth Edwards directing, The film has already announced Felicity Jones, Riz Ahmed, Diego Luna and Ben Mendelsohn as part of the cast.
Edwards recently stated at the Star Wars Celebration convention in Anaheim that the plot of “Rogue One” revolves around the heist of the Death Star plans by a group of rebel fighters, with Jones starring as one of the rebel soldiers.
The film will take place between Episode III and Episode IV, but closer chronologically to “A New Hope.” It’s set to bow December 16, 2016.
Whitaker is one of the producers on the Sundance film “Dope,” which opens on June 19. He will next be seen opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in Antoine Fuqua’s boxing drama “Southpaw.” He’s currently filming Denis Villeneuve sci-fi drama “The Story of Your Life.”
