Netflix has releases the poster to ‘Barry,’ which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and stars actor Devon Terrell in his lead role as a young Barack Obama.

The film will be released on December 16, 2016.

Set in 1981, twenty-year-old Barry (Devon Terrell) arrives in a New York City where turf wars pervade every milieu, from the basketball courts to the university campus where he is bullied by police on his first night. He starts dating a white woman from his political science class. He attends a party in a Harlem housing project. With his Kenyan father and Kansas-born mother, Barry should be able to slip between racially coded camps. Instead, he feels like he doesn’t belong anywhere.

Directed by Vikram Gandhi from a script by Adam Mansbach , the film also stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Jason Mitchell, Ellar Coltrane, Ashley Judd, and Jenna Elfman.

‘Barry’ is a joint production between Black Bear Pictures and Cinetic Media, produced by Cinetic’s Dana O’Keefe and Black Bear’s Teddy Schwarzman and Ben Stillman. It is the first production for Jon Sloss’ Cinetic.

This is the second film about the formative years of Obama, after Southside With You, which chronicles Obama’s (played by Parker Sawyers) first date with future First Lady Michelle Robinson (Tika Sumpter).
