STX Entertainment has released new clips for The Circle, director James Ponsoldt’s upcoming feature adaptation of Dave Eggers’ novel starring Emma Watson, Tom Hanks, John Boyega, Karen Gillan, Patton Oswalt and Bill Paxton.

The film centers on Mae Holland (Watson), a young woman hungry to jumpstart her career. She joins the tech and social media behemoth The Circle where she rapidly rises through the ranks. Pressured to step in front of the camera by company founder, Eamon Bailey, Mae struggles to maintain her own identity as she becomes the face of a company with a billion followers. In this taut tech thriller, no one is really safe when everyone is always watching.

Boyega will play Ty, the iconized boy-wonder visionary of the Circle, where he and an employee (Watson) develop a relationship as the perils of life in a digital age inevitably arise.

The film is produced by Hanks and Gary Goetzman’s Playtone, along with Anthony Bregman’s Likely Story and Ponsoldt, and Walter Parkes and Laurie Macdonald of Parkes + MacDonald Image Nation.

“The Circle” opens on April 28, 2017.
