Netflix has released a Super Bowl TV spot for producer J.J. Abrams‘ 2018 film The Cloverfield Paradox. The mysterious upcoming third Cloverfield movie will no longer debut in theaters this April but will instead debut on Netflix right after the game ends.
The Bad Robot feature is being directed by Julius Onah and stars David Oyelowo, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Daniel Bruhl, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris O’Dowd, John Ortiz, Zhang Ziyi and Aksel Henni
“In the near future, a group of international astronauts on a space station are working to solve a massive energy crisis on Earth. The experimental technology aboard the station has an unexpected result, leaving the team isolated and fighting for their survival.”
Lindsey Weber will produce alongside Abrams, while Tommy Harper and Bob Dorhmann are executive producers.
God Particle follows 2008’s Cloverfield and 2016’s 10 Cloverfield Lane. The original Cloverfield brought in over $170 million worldwide, while 10 Cloverfield Lane took in $108 million at the global box office.
Nigerian-American filmmaker Onah’s feature debut, “The Girl Is In Trouble,” starred Columbus Short and was released in 2016 after traveling the festival circuit.
