Will Smith recently posted a photo of the Bad Boys for Life scripts late Sunday night, stating, “Day 1. I’ll keep y’all posted.” The long-awaited sequel to the two Michael Bay action films is expected to last through April in Miami and Atlanta.
Adil Arbi and Bilall Fallah will direct the third film for Sony Pictures, which sees the return or Will Smith’s Mike Lowery and Martin Lawrence’s Marcus Burnett along with Joe Pantoliano as their boss, Captain Conrad Howard.
Production Weekly reports that the new film will see the Miami police department assembling an elite team called AMMO that has been tasked with taking down drug cartel leader Armando Armas (Jacob Scipio) – a cold-blooded killer with a vicious, taunting nature. Armas’ equally ruthless mother has tasked him with killing Mike Lowery, though the reason for doing so isn’t clear as yet.
At the same time, the AMMO team is lead by a tough and funny criminal psychologist named Rite (Paola Nunez) who also happens to be Mike’s ex-girlfriend, the one who got away. Alexander Ludwig, Vanessa Hudgens and Charles Melton also star in the film as other members of the AMMO team.
The action film comes from a script by Chris Bremner. Jerry Bruckheimer is also back as producer. It has a a theatrical release for January 17th 2020.
