Netflix To Do Film Adaptation Of Broadway’s American Son With Kenny Leon, Kerry Washington & Cast Returning

Kenny Leon returns to direct

“Scandal” star Kerry Washington along with Steven Pasquale, Jeremy Jordan, and Eugene Lee will reprise their stage roles in the screen adaptation of the Broadway smash “American Son” at Netflix.

Christopher Demos-Brown penned the stage play which explores tensions of race and class in America as an estranged interracial couple reunite in a Florida police station to search for answers about their missing teenage son, whose car has been found without him in it.

Washington will play Kendra Ellis-Connor, with Pasquale as Scott Connor, and Eugene Lee as Lieutenant John Stokes.

Kenny Leon returns to direct and produce while Washington, Pilar Savone, Jeffrey Richards and Rebecca Gold also produce. Production is slated to begin in February in New York.
