With production underway in Atlanta for Bad Boys For Life, the third installment in the Bad Boys franchise, Blackfilm.com has learned that Bianca Bethune will be reprising her role as Meghan Burnett, daughter to Martin Lawrence’s Marcus Burnett.
Having appeared in 2003’s Bad Boys II, the New Jersey native joins lead stars Will Smith (Mike Lowery) and Lawrence as well as Joe Pantoliano (Captain Conrad Howard) as returning characters.
Adil Arbi and Bilall Fallah are directing the action film from a script by Chris Bremner. Jerry Bruckheimer is also back as producer. It has a a theatrical release for January 17, 2020.
Production Weekly reports that the new film will see the Miami police department assembling an elite team (Alexander Ludwig, Vanessa Hudgens and Charles Melton) called AMMO that has been tasked with taking down drug cartel leader Armando Armas (Jacob Scipio) – a cold-blooded killer with a vicious, taunting nature. Armas’ equally ruthless mother has tasked him with killing Mike Lowery, though the reason for doing so isn’t clear as yet.
At the same time, the AMMO team is lead by a tough and funny criminal psychologist named Rite (Paola Nunez) who also happens to be Mike’s ex-girlfriend, the one who got away.
Best known for playing Sharee Gifford in the Freeform drama Switched at Birth, Bethune has also guest-starred in a number of TV programs such as Criminal Minds, Everybody Hates Chris, Zoey 101, Rosewood, and Odd Man Out: The Series.
Bethune’s memorable scene in Bad Boys II was the “Reggie” scene in which Marcus and Mike try to intimidate her prom date.
