Asha Kamali, currently a cast member of Bravo’s new spin-off Married to Medicine Los Angeles, is set for a recurring guest star role opposite Keke Palmer (“Gigi Nixon”) on Star, Fox’s music-themed drama series.
Co-created and executive produced by Lee Daniels and Tom Donaghy, Star follows three talented singers – running from their pasts and desperate for a new start – with ambitions of stardom, as they navigate the cutthroat music business.
Kamali will play Aunt Missy, who handles the business side of management, within GiGi’s “Famtourage” (family/entourage). She hustles hard for her niece, using skills she learned and honed in the hood to claim the throne as Queen Bee manager from her sister, Ginny, who becomes jealous and competitive.
Kamali is an official cast member of the Bravo reality series, Married to Medicine Los Angeles, a look into the elite and fast-paced lives of five successful women, including doctors and doctors’ wives living in Los Angeles. Asha lives in the Los Angeles area with her husband, Dr. George Blankinship. The series airs Sunday nights at 9/8c.
As the 2015 female winner of the American Black Film Festival/ NBC Star Project, The Howard University alum booked a role on NBC’s Days of Our Lives last September. Because the show tapes six months in advance, her episode should be airing soon.
Kamali co-created, writes and stars in digital series Milk & Honey alongside Debbie Allen, Lance Gross and Boris Kodjoe. She’s also appeared in a guest-starring role on Freeform’s Stitchers. Kamali is repped by Gray Talent and Reena Patton.
