Amazon Studios has released the first official trailer and theatrical poster for The Report, written and directed by Scott Z Burns. The film is based on real events and stars Adam Driver as a congressional staff member who shines a spotlight on the CIA’s torture tactics.
The Report is a riveting thriller based on actual events. Idealistic staffer Daniel J. Jones (Driver) is tasked by his boss Senator Dianne Feinstein (Bening) to lead an investigation of the CIA’s Detention and Interrogation Program, which was created in the aftermath of 9/11. Jones’ relentless pursuit of the truth leads to explosive findings that uncover the lengths to which the nation’s top intelligence agency went to destroy evidence, subvert the law, and hide a brutal secret from the American public.

In addition to Oscar nominee Adam Driver (BlacKkKlansman), the cast includes four-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening (The Kids Are Alright, Being Julia), Ted Levine (On Becoming a God in Central Florida), seven-time Emmy nominee Michael C Hall (Six Feet Under, Dexter), Tim Blake Nelson (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs), Spirit Award nominee Corey Stoll (Midnight in Paris), Maura Tierney, and Emmy Award winner Jon Hamm (Mad Men). Douglas Hodge, Fajer Kaisi, Jennifer Morrison, Linda Powell, Matthew Rhys, and T. Ryder Smith also star in the A-list ensemble.
Burns’ behind the scenes team includes director of photography Eigil Bryld, production designer Ethan Tobman, and costume designer Susan Lyall.
