Idris Elba will be headlining a new thriller for Universal Pictures called Beast, an original idea by Jaime Primak-Sullivan and directed by Baltasar Kormakur.
Will Packer is producing this with James Lopez through Will Packer Productions. Beast was the second re-teaming of Packer, Lopez, Primak-Sullivan and Engle after the movie Breaking In.
Little details have been released on the thriller other than a lion will play as the main antagonist, similar to the movie The Shallows featuring Blake Lively who was being stalked by a shark. Kormakur seems to have a gift for survival thriller’s, directing 2015’s Everest and more recently Adrift, starring Shailene Woodley and Sam Claflin. Packer’s known for action and comedy; responsible for 2014’s Ride Along, Girls Trip (2017), and Night School (2018) starring Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish.
Elba is known for Universal’s Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw, and is now coming off of the Toronto Film Festival film Concrete Cowboy, also claiming James Gunn’s DC movie The Suicide Squad playing the character Bloodshot in 2021. Elba is repped by WME, The Artists Partnership, M8, and Ziffren Brittenham.
