Denzel Washington Casts Chante Adams Opposite Michael B. Jordan in ‘Journal for Jordan’

Roxanne Roxanne star Chante Adams has snagged the lead role in Denzel Washington’s directorial return in Journal for Jordan. Adams will be playing opposite of Michael B. Jordan in the Sony Pictures project. Washington and Jordan teamed up to produce this film through Jordan’s Outlier Society Productions. Joining the production team are Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, and Todd Black from Escape Artists. Rounding out the production team is Aaron L. Gilbert via BRON Studios with Jason Cloth executive producing through Creative Wealth Media.

Journal for Jordan is a true recount of Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Dana Canedy’s (played by Adams) love affair with First Sergeant Charles Monroe King. King was killed while deployed in Iraq in 2006, leaving behind Canedy and their 7 month old son. However, King was able to keep his memory alive for his son through journal entries proposed to give young Jordan poignant life lessons. The film is based on Dana Canedy’s best selling 2008 memoir of the same name. Oscar Nominee, Virgil Williams (Mudbound) adapted the novel for the screen.

Adam’s debuted in the Netflix film Roxanne Roxanne, winning her the Sundance Film Festival award for best breakout performance. Adam’s can currently be seen in Stella Meghie’s The Photograph opposite Issa Rae and Lakeith Stanfield and in Justin Simien’s (Dear White People) Bad Hair, released on HULU Oct. 23. The actress is also set for Neil Burger’s Voyagers set for release this spring from Lionsgate. To add, Adam’s is geared to star in the upcoming adaptation of A League of Their Own from Abbi Jacobson.
