SOLOS is a must watch, streaming on Amazon Prime, now. There are seven episodes to the anthology, profiling characters played by some of the best living actors of our time.
The series features Uzo Aduba, Nicole Beharie, Morgan Freeman, Anne Hathaway, Anthony Mackie, Helen Mirren, Dan Stevens, and Constance Wu. Each of these SOLOS must face critical questions regarding their circumstances and existence, the show will quickly inspire your own internal dialogue as we start to slowly climb out of the pandemic and question our own decisions and environments.
SOLOS offers weighty dialogue, mirroring a play in its significance of every character’s words and strong monologues. The stories are in fact intertwined, so it is very important to pay attention to each episode. The show is beautifully acted, with writers David Weil, Tori Sampson, and Stacy Osei-Kuffour providing the cast with pure poetry.
The standout episodes in the series are Peg (Helen Mirren). Peg is an older woman, who feels isolated and ignored, longing for acknowledgment and love. The experience provides her a type of solace, as she’s comforted in an unexpectedly therapeutic way.
Sasha (Uzo Aduba) is a woman who perhaps through her own mental health crisis no longer trusts her smart home, or the safety of the world, as she chose extended isolation due to the current pandemic.
Each episode offers an invaluable dialogue that will have you questioning your own relationships and impact; you’ll be better for it.
SOLOS is a refreshing show for people who value episodic recaps, because there are questions and moments you’ll have, and also not want to miss out on.
