The legendary Melvin Van Peebles has passed away. The influential, multi-hyphenate playwright and father of actor and director Mario Van Peebles (New Jack City) leaves behind a strong legacy. His film Sweet Sweetback’s Baadasssss Song was an early blaxploitation classic.
