Viral Violinist EZINMA Tours Bronx Public Schools To Help Create Next Generation Of Musicians Of Color

Acclaimed violinist, recording artist and viral sensation Ezinma, known for her seamless fusion of hip-hop and classical music which has led to performances with headliners such as Beyoncé, Yo-Yo Ma, SZA, Kendrick Lamar and Joshua Bell, will be touring three elementary schools in The Bronx on Wednesday.

These performances are part of a series of sessions that Meredith Ezinma Ramsay is conducting on behalf of her new foundation, Strings By Heart, which aims to bring more diversity, access and inclusion to the classical music world through music education.

“Classical Bae,” as she is lovingly referred to, will perform interactive demonstrations at P.S. 18 John Peter Zenger, P.S. 30 Wilton and PS 70 Max Schoenfeld schools. Her aim is to encourage students to apply for the Strings by Heart foundation’s music education program whose mission is to “equip,” “educate” and “empower” students by providing private and group lessons, access to instruments and premier cultural events and a community-driven approach. During these sessions, students will be encouraged to try out instruments, engage in listening activities and get excited about learning something new and while developing a rapport with other students.

“Through Strings by Heart, I am committed to cultivating the next generation of classical music artists,” said Ezinma. “Music education plays a pivotal role in helping children and young adults identify their passions and determine a path towards their desired goals. I want to give children, especially those from underserved communities, the chance to experience the joy of music while developing skills that will last a lifetime.”According to recent research published by Strad Magazine, Black and Latino musicians are historically underrepresented in classical orchestras, making up less than 4 percent of orchestra members. Music education develops discipline, leadership, better focus and improved grades in addition to fostering a sense of community. Shar Music is the exclusive supplier of instruments and related string education products for Strings By Heart.
