Jennifer Hudson is an EGOT

At the 2022 Tony’s Jennifer Hudson became the 17th person to gain EGOT status when she won as one of the producers of “A Strange Loop” for best musical.

Some fun EGOT facts are at the age of 40 Jennifer Hudson is the third youngest person to gain EGOT status behind John Legend and Robert Lopez who both snagged this title while 39.  She is also the third Black artist to become an EGOT following Whoopi Goldberg and John Legend.

An EGOT is the achievement of having won all four of the major entertainment awards. This includes an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony.

In addition to winning a Tony, Jennifer Hudson has won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress (Dreamgirls – 2006), two Grammy’s (best R&B album for 2009’s Jennifer Hudson, and best musical theater alum for 2017’s the Color Purple), and a Daytime Emmy Award (for 2021’s Baba Yaga).

Congratulations Jennifer on your historic win!
