Kevin Hart Cast In New Will Packer Film

Kevin Hart Cast in ‘Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man’by Wilson Morales

April 19, 2011

Today on the Steve Harvey Morning radio show, Rainforest Film’s producer Will Packer announced that comedian/ actor Kevin Hart has been cast in his next film, ‘Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man,’ which is based on comedian, author and syndicated talk-show host Steve Harvey’s, national best-seller.

Based on the book, ‘Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man: What Men Really Think About Love, Relationships, Intimacy, and Commitment,’ the tome is an extension of a popular segment from Harvey’s top rated, nationally syndicated morning radio show called ‘Strawberry Letter,’ in which he and co-host Shirley Strawberry give advice to people who write in.

Essentially the book, which has afforded the Virginia native multiple appearances on top-rated TV shows such as ‘Oprah’ and ‘The View,’ is a relationship guide where Harvey refers to his own real-life experiences and drops science about the dos and don’ts of meeting and mating. The ‘Original King of Comedy’ also translates for women what men say versus what they really mean. In an interview with BlackVoices.com, Harvey, who collaborated with acclaimed writer Denene Milner, stated, “I wanted to write this book to empower women. It was very therapeutic for me.”

Hart will play the role of Cedric, who’s about to be divorced and has advice to give out.

‘Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man’ will be produced by Rainforest Films and Screen Gems, who also collaborated with Packer on such hits as ‘Stomp The Yard,’ ‘This Christmas,’ and ‘Takers.’

Hart was most recently seen opposite Ben Stiller in the hit film, ‘Little Fockers,’ and will be seen in the upcoming romantic comedy, ’35 and Ticking’ with Meagan Good, Nicole Ari Parker, and Salli Richardson-Whitfield.

Packer was on the show to promote Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Face of the Fan program, a competition search for 3 walk-on parts in the film. All participants must be between ages 18 and 50.

By visiting www.FaceOfTheFan.com, users nationwide can participate in this casting call which is open to men and women. The program allows participants to submit audition materials for one of two roles, one for a male character and one for a female character. The audition requires the user to provide contact information, a headshot photo, and a video (two minutes or less) of the participant acting out a monologue excerpt from the book. The audition submission process will end on May 13.

Beginning on May 20, the public will be invited to become part of the casting call process and vote on up to ten men and ten women who took part in the initial online casting call in order to provide filmmakers with broader insight on who the public thinks would be the best choice for both of the roles. The public will be encouraged to share their favorite videos and rally for their choice. Each week during the voting process, a select number of men and women in the voting gallery will be eliminated from consideration based on the public vote. Those making it through to the end of the voting period may get the opportunity to interact with the film’s producers and/or be considered for a walk-on role in the film. Voting ends June 8.

Production on ‘Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man’ begins this summer.
