Jennifer Hudson Joins The Three Stoogesby Wilson Morales
June 1, 2011
Deadline is reporting that Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson has signed on to play Sister Rosemary in the big screen adaptation of ‘The Three Stooges.’
The Chicago native joins Jane Lynch, who’s playing Mother Superior, and Larry David, who’s playing Mother Mengele.
Directed by Bobby and Peter Farrelly, the movie takes place when the trio, (played by Chris Diamantopoulos (Moe), Sean Hayes (Larry) and Will Sasso (Curly), are dumped out as newborns at the door of an orphanage. The comedy follows them to adulthood and is very much in the spirit of the original shorts, in which the blue collar bumblers got the best of the wealthy society matrons that tried to exploit them.
The 20th Century Fox comedy has begun production.
Hudson last appeared in the 2008 film ‘The Secret Life of Bees‘ opposite Queen Latifah and Dakota Fanning. Her latest film, ‘Winnie,’ where she stars as Winnie Mandela and co-stars Terrence Howard as Nelson Mandela has yet to receive theatrical distribution. A contestant on American Idol, Hudson went on to win the Academy Award for her supporting role in the 2006 film ‘Dreamgirls.’
