Sanaa Lathan/ Anthony Mackie To Star In Vipaka Filmby Wilson Morales
August 3, 2011
Anthony Mackie and Sanaa Lathan have been added to the horror film, ‘Vipaka,’ joining Forest Whitaker and Mike Epps.
Written by Shin Shimosawa, the film will be directed by Philippe Caland.
Film has begun production in New Orleans. Mackie and Whitaker will be paired opposite each other, whose conflict occurs against the voodoo backdrop of the city. Though the psychological aspect of the plot hasn’t been detailed, the title refers to a Buddhist concept where vipaka is the direct result of a karmic act.
Mackie will play a life coach who is abducted by a client, played by Whitaker. Lathan will play his wife while Epps will play his brother.
Lathan just finished the Off-Broadway production of ‘By The Way, Meet Vera Stark‘ and will next been opposite Laurence Fishburne in Steven Soderbergh‘s ‘Contagion.’ Mackie, who starred opposite Matt Damon in ‘The Adjustment Bureau,’ will next be seen in ‘Reel Steal‘ with Hugh Jackman and will also star in ‘Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter.’
