Cicely Tyson, Carmen Ejogo Added To Tyler Perry Film, ‘I, Alex Cross’by Wilson Morales

Veteran actress Cicely Tyson, Carmen Ejogo, and General Hospital’s Ingo Rademacher have been added to ‘I, Alex Cross,’ the reboot of the James Patterson franchise character with Tyler Perry starring and Rob Cohen directing.
The film also features Rachel Nichols, Jean Reno, Ed Burns, Giancarlo Esposito, Chad Lindberg, Yara Shahidi, Stephanie Jacobsen, and Matthew Fox.
‘I, Alex Cross’ is the reboot of the James Patterson novels where a younger Cross hunts down serial rapist Michael Sullivan (played by Fox), who kills both for money and thrills. He’s known as the Butcher of Sligo and shows why after Cross thwarts one of his killing attempts. Sullivan makes his retribution personal, by killing the detective’s wife in gruesome fashion. Then it becomes a mano a mano battle between them. Sullivan is one of the best known villains in the Patterson-penned novel series.
Tyson, who has worked with Perry on three of his films (‘Diary of a Mad Black Woman,’ ‘Madea’s Family Reunion,’ and ‘Why Did I Get Married Too?’) and is currently in theaters in ‘The Help,’‘ will play Cross’ grandmother, Nana Mama.
Ejogo, last seen in the TV series ‘Chaos’ and the indie film ‘Away We Go’ will play Cross’ wife, Maria Cross. Ejogo is also married to actor Jeffrey Wright.
Rademacher, who recently left the ABC soap opera ‘General Hospital’ after playing Jasper “Jax” Jacks for 15 years, will play the role of Officer Sacks.
The film is being produced by QED partners Bill Block and Paul Hanson.
Shooting is currently underway for a 2012 release date.
