Eddie Murphy’s Thousand Words Release Date Pushed Back Again

Eddie Murphy’s ‘Thousand Words’ Release Date Pushed Backby Wilson Morales

January 10, 2012

Just when you thought that funnyman Eddie Murphy got his mojo back last when ‘Tower Heist’ was released and his role, although supporting, was touted as a comeback, things have looked bleak since.

After declining to host the 2012 Oscars after producer Brett Ratner removed himself from the position after his gay slur, Murphy’s latest film, ‘A Thousand Words,’ has seen its released date pushed back yet again.

Initially slated to be released in January before Murphy got the Oscar gig, the film was pushed to March 23rd. Now, Paramount Pictures has stated the film will now tentatively come out on April 20th.

This film has been around since production started in 2008. People wondered if it would ever see the light of day, making Blackfilm’s list of ’10 Black Films That May Never Reached Theaters Or DVD.’

Directed by Brian Robbins, who previously worked with Murphy on ‘Meet Dave‘ and ‘Norbit,’ the film revolves around Murphy, a savvy businessman who discovers he only has ‘a thousand words’ left to speak before he dies. Kerry Washington plays his wife who wants Murphy to spend more time with his family.

Also cast in the film are Kerry Washington, Ariel Winter, Allison Janney, Clark Duke, Cliff Curtis, John Witherspoon, and Steve Little.
