‘I Survived’ will premiere at the University of Miami’s Cosford Cinema on June 21, 22 and 23. The play is based on Bianca Ramirez’s life and is inspired by her autobiography, B Beyond Words, which is scheduled to release this Fall. Her play incorporates music, poetry and dance to express her trials and confrontations with domestic violence, poverty, cancer, and sexual assault.
According to Ramirez, “‘I Survived’ is a story about hope, love, and courage. Without these, we are lost.”
Just like literature, theater helps us to identify our areas of need and helps us to redirect our focus, which helps us to better understand ourselves and those around us. This is significant because it helps us to live less stressful, happier, healthier and more comfortable lives.
Producing the play ‘I Survived’ has provided me with an innovative way for me to share my life story. My experiences, including the series of unfortunate events that I have overcome, have shaped me into stronger, happier, healthier me. I am using this project to instill life and courage to others.
I Survived & B Beyond Words is all about pushing yourself beyond your past, beyond your fears, beyond your obstacles, beyond your shadows, and beyond the labels anyone has attempted to use to define you. No words can define you, because you are BEYOND WORDS.
I would like to thank you for taking the time to support a young Latina who perseveres to B Beyond Words and my goal is to encourage EVERYONE to ‘B Beyond Words,’ Especially our youth. I want to inspire others to be beyond the words that others have tried to use to define them by or use against them. To BE the difference to MAKE a difference.
